A third-year student at Maseno university lost his life after a police officer shot him dead. This happened during the Azimio protests where the police were trying to contain the situation.
William Mayange was among a group of students and demonstrators who allegedly invaded the Maseno police line and overpowered the officers who ran out of teargas. This prompted them to use live bullets.
Mayange was a student taking education in English and Literature.
