Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i is relieved after the government dropped charges against him days after being summoned by the Directorate of Criminals Investigations.
On Monday, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji dropped the case against the former CS, saying that there was sufficient evidence to charge him.
Dr. Matiang’i’s lawyer Danstan Omari has also been spared by the DPP.
The development comes just days after Matiang’i was summoned by the DCI for interrogation amid claims that he was spreading fake information amid claims that his home had been raided by the police in February.
The former CS would later fly out of the country with his critics alleging that he had gone into exile. But after two weeks, he returned home and presented himself before the DCI sleuths.
