Yesterday, a report emerged that a student from Chemase Secondary school in Nandi county was beaten by teachers leading to his death.

Kelvin Kiptanui was said to have been punished by two teachers from the said school after they found him referring to a physics text book during midterm exams.

However, new twist on his death has emerged after postmortem report revealed that he died due to illness.

The doctors who conducted the postmortem said that the form one student had severe cases of pneumonia, sepsis and ulcers which had reached critical conditions hence caning did very little harm to kill him as reports indicated earlier on.

They said that the boy should have been brought to the hospital early so that they could treat him in good time and discharge him.

Doctor Elkana Chirchir also said that there were no visible signs of gravious caning on the child’s body to prove that indeed he was killed as a result of caning as the media houses had put it saying that should it have happened that way they could have seen it on his body.

The boy’s mother as however said that the school is conspiring with medical doctors to cover up that story saying that her son was fine and it is only after being caned that he developed complications.
