Learning at Musa Nyandusi Kegati High School was disrupted in the early Tuesday morning incident.
The fire destroyed beddings and students’ personal belongings leaving 77 students without a place to sleep.
Majority of the students were in class when the fire broke out. Luckily, no student was injured.
Residents and Fire-fighters from Kisii County Council helped put out the fire.
Parents arrived at the institution to establish the fate of the children.
Investigations into the incident have already started. A contingent of security personnel has been also dispatched to the school to investigate the cause of the inferno.
This comes months after Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha said anyone found culpable in fire incidents will be punished.
