Property worth thousands of shillings was reduced to ashes following a fire incident at Dallas Estate in Embu.
The fire gutted down today over 10 houses on Saturday morning, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
“The fire started in one of the houses before spreading to adjacent rental units,” residents said.
Emma Mwende, a resident, added that she was going about her morning chores when she heard one of her neighbours screaming.
“I dashed to see what was happening only to find my house on fire,” Mwende said.
Residents joined hands in efforts to put out the fire and were later joined by the county fire department.
“The fire engine arrived minutes after we raised the alarm. We thank everyone who helped prevent the fire from spreading further,” Beth Kariuki, another resident said.
