Senate Minority Leader James Orengo has slammed cliques in Harambee House indicating that the recent by-elections have highlighted their failure which could tear the country apart.
Orengo spoke on Saturday at Asembo in Rarieda where he accused a cabal of high profile civil servants of trying to undermine the handshake and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) process.
According to the Siaya Senator, the said individuals are busy trying to determine who becomes the country’s president in 2022 instead of focusing on unity.
“We have seen what happened in Matungu and Kabuchai and all over the country…this is not what is called free and fair elections. On a day of elections there should be total peace, and whereas Harambee House likes condemning politicians, this time round I’m condemning the administration, the people in Harambee House and the police,”he said.
“…the measures they put in place to ensure that election day in Matungu, Kabuchai and everywhere else where there was a by-election there was peace they failed. Because that is their mandate…it is not the mandate of the IEBC.”
Orengo also alluded to an alleged plot to sideline his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga from the BBI process as well as from 2022 succession talk.

He cautioned the said civil servants against meddling in politics of the nation warning that this could lead to anarchy, further stating that he will expose them in due time.
“Whenever civil servants who are part of a cabal try to chart the destiny of a nation for their own personal interest, there can never be any peace. This is just a warning shot, because we’re going to expose these people, they’re trying to derail us,” he said.
“They have already declared in their minds who is going to rule Kenya next year, and I’m telling them you’re reaping where you did not sow. Without Raila Odinga, you could not be planning that issue of succession, so listen to these two principals; Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.”
