2022: Would impeaching DP Ruto make him stronger or weaker?

It is with no doubt that the cracks in the Jubilee party are now too wide to conceal.

The relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto is nothing close to what it was when they came to power in 2013.

Officially, the two still maintain they enjoy a cordial working relationship but their foot soldiers are not shy to say that it is no longer business as usual in Jubilee.

Just to show how bad things are, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria recently claimed that his counterpart Kieni MP already had an impeachment motion against DP Ruto.

“I know Hon Kanini Kega has a motion ready for the impeachment of DP Ruto… In the mind of Uhuru he fired Ruto a long time ago, why are we firing him twice?” he said.

MP Kega has since denied the claims.

“Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria made that wild allegation, that I have a motion to impeach the DP. I think this is a scheme to try and whip public emotion and gain some sympathy. I want to say in no uncertain terms that we have no motion to impeach the DP and we have no intention to do the same either,” he told journalists.

DP Ruto’s allies, and perceived allies, have already been kicked out of key positions in the Senate and the National Assembly. Some people believe it is only a matter of time before the changes get too DP Ruto.

How will impeaching DP Ruto (if it happens) affect his 2022 presidential ambitions? Will he be weaker or stronger?
