Lawyer Adil Khawaja  is an experienced and  resourceful lawyer


Adil Arshed Khawaja is one of the most decorated lawyers in Kenya. He has represented clients involved in complicated land issues. He is also known for continually offering legal advice regarding eco-conveyancing for clients in the tourism sector and the Government of Kenya.

He has in the recent past been appointed to a Taskforce whose objective was to make inquiries into Forest Resource Management and Logging Activities in Kenya. He offered legal advice and submitted a report to the Kenyan Government on this issue.

This report has been useful in taking legal action against some of the key officials from different agencies with corruption charges. It has also offered a legal framework that needs to be amended and help the Ministry of Environment and Forestry with its implementation plans to change the sector inquiry into Forest Resource Management and Logging Activities in Kenya.

He has additionally worked as a Director on the National Environment Council, and as a Trustee to the Friends of Conservation and Care for Wild Kenya as well as the Kenya Wildlife Service.

Adil Khawaja, according to Bloomberg profiles has an impeccable career and currently works as a Managing Partner in Dentons Hamilton Harrison & Mathews. The 48 years old renowned lawyer has a 23-years’ experience and profound understanding of the real estate, environmental and planning law, commercial litigation and arbitration.

Adil enrolled for his LLB Hons in 1990 and attained in 1993. He was enrolled as a trainee at Hamiltons Harrison and Mathews till 1994 then went ahead did his Diploma in Laws (Bar finals) from Kenya School of Law in the same year.

In 1995, he was promoted to an ASSOCIATE at the Hamiltons Harrison and Mathews law firm, a week after sitting for his Bar finals. He has held this position for a half a decade.

The CEO of Hamiltons Harrison and Mathews law firm unveiled him as a PARTNER in 2001 and after several years of exemplary service, he stepped down in 2013.

Adil Khawaja acted as the Law Society of Kenya Elections Scrutineer between 2007 and 2010 which later saw him being endorsed by LSK to the Judiciary Committee responsible for the renovation of the new Milimani Commercial Courts.

Lawyer Adil Khawaja earned a Masters Degree in Law from one of Kenya’s Higher institution of learning, The University of Nairobi proving that he is an experienced and resourceful lawyer with a strong educational background.

Besides that, he also has a graduate degree from The University of Sheffield.

After bowing out as a PARTNER in 2013, he was recognized as a leading lawyer by some of the world’s recognized legal directories; IFLR 1000, Legal 500 and Chambers Global. Adil was later appointed as the Managing Partner at Hamiltons Harrison and Mathew’s law firm,  a position he holds until today.

According to Hamilton Harrison & Mathews (HH&M) blog, it states that it’s one of the largest law firms in Kenya and is consistently rated as a top tier firm in the country by clients and international directories. Currently, the firm has 12 partners which the Uhondo Team shall reveal them later.

Adil Khawaja is the Managing Partner in Dentons Hamilton Harrison & Mathews. Dentons describe him as one of the most distinguished lawyers in Kenya having being involved in several complicated land issues and providing advice regarding eco-conveyancing to clients in the tourism sector and the Government of Kenya.

Adil Khawaja presently occupies the position of Chairman of Kcb Insurance Agency Ltd. and Chairman of KCB Bank Kenya Ltd. Besides that, he holds board positions in several corporations.

He sits on the board of Al Futtaim Automotive -CMC Motors Group and Kenya Power Company Limited.

Adil is the founding member of his non-profit foundation which is actively involved in Community Involvement and Pro Bono.

Adil Rhino Charge

In 2018, Adil Khawaja was invited to be a new director of Rhino Ark, a position he cordially accepted. Rhino Ark is a charitable trust founded in 1988 to support conservation in Kenya. They develop sustainable solutions for mountain forest ecosystems and biodiversity areas.

Together with his team, Car 44 including Mario Brigetti, Abid Khawaja, Jameel Sheikh, Massimiliano Brigetti, Nelson Lekamisi, Adil were able to clinch the Third Highest Cash Sponsorship having raised KES 16,217,000.

In 2019, Adil Khawaja’s Team AK-44 of car 44 won The Victor Ludorum. The prestigious award takes into consideration both the charge distance and fundraise. The team fundraised a total of KES 17,000,003  in which they came close to winning.
