Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB)CEO Dr.Ezekeil Mutua’s idea to ban the sensational song Utawezana by Femi One and Mejja might suffer a setback.
This after the song which he terms as immoral hits international.
“Our artistes must not glorify immorality in the guise of creativity. The Okonkwo utawezana nonsense is a shallow, bizarre sexual perversion,”he wrote.
“There’s absolutely nothing creative there. That lady would be ashamed to sing such crap before her mother. While comic relief is an integral part of art, it doesn’t have to be dirty or sexualized to be entertaining.”
Hours after the moral cop revealed his intentions of banning the song, Mejja has shared a video of people in Burundi dancing to the Utawezana song on his Instagram account.
“Burundi 🇧🇮 I Appreciate The Love #Utawezana,”he wrote.
In his long Facebookpost, Mutua warned artists against producing immoral content will not benefit from the government funds and they will be blacklisted
“The Board will blacklist these kinds of perverts and share their names with the relevant ministries and Government agencies to ensure that they are never engaged by Government,”he wrote.
“The Government has a duty to protect children from premature exposure to adult content. Those producing, broadcasting, distributing or exhibiting such immoral content will not benefit from Government funding. They will also never be allowed to perform in public events funded by Government. Content doesn’t have to be obscene to sell,”.
