Tharaka Nithi Governor, Muthomi Njuki, on Wednesday expressed fears that anti-Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) politicians, were in cahoots with youth from Central Kenya, to ensure that the upcoming BBI rally in Meru, on Saturday, would end in chaos.

Speaking during a pre-BBI meeting convened by leaders from Mt.Kenya East counties, Njuki noted that Tangatanga die-hards had engaged bodaboda operators, ahead of the highly anticipated forum, where Deputy President William Ruto, and ODM leader Raila Odinga, are expected to share the podium, for the first time under such circumstances.

The county head warned that planners of the event were on high alert, and would ensure that the alleged plans did not materialize.

He stated that the bodaboda riders, who the rival faction planned to deploy, were drawn from Laikipia, Isiolo, and Tharaka Nithi.

According to Njuki, the plan was that the motorcyclists would storm the Kinoru Stadium hosted-event in hundreds, bearing protest branches locally known as mathigi in the Mt.Kenya region.

He promised individuals planning to attend the meeting that it would be a peaceful affair, and inflammatory, as well as abusive talk, would not be tolerated.

”We want the BBI of Mt.Kenya region…to be different from all the other BBIs that have been held in Kenya,” he asserted.

Also in attendance was Embu governor Martin Wambora and Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi.
