Embakasi East Member of Parliament(MP) Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino, is now demanding that Jowie Irungu, the murder suspect of businesswoman Monica Kimani, be set free.
Taking to his social media account to express his disappointment towards the Judiciary, Babu said the Kenyan courts are not fair in granting equity among murder suspects.
The MP demanded that all suspects implicated in various murder cases should be treated equally adding that if some are released on bail, then Jowie also deserves to be set free.
“When Governor Obado was alleged to have murdered he was given a cash bail/bond term. When Sarah Wairimu was alleged to have murdered Cohen She was released on Cash bail/bond.
JOWI should be given cash bail/bond term by the judiciary and when found guilty be jailed,” wrote the MP in his social media account.
Babu added that the law ought to be fair to everyone regardless of his or her economic status.
He claimed that Jowie was being wasted in jail because he was poor.
“Marxism’s law is that Equity is equality. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands.
Is it coz JOWI is poor that’s why he is being by the Rich judiciary?” asked Babu.
Jowie together with his then-lover Jacque Maribe were arrested in September 2018 after they were linked them to the murder of Monica.
However, Maribe was released on bail after Justice James Wakiaga ruled that there was no indication that she was a flight risk and the prosecution did not prove that she would interfere with witnesses.
On the other hand, the court denied Jowie bail noting that he had extensively travelled to the Middle East with no known assets in the country and his willingness to surrender the passport was not a guarantee that he will not abscond court.
