Image result for rodrygo goesReal Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes has downplayed comparisons with Brazilian great Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima after scoring on his Real Madrid debut against Osasuna on Wednesday night at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Goes replaced countryman Vinicius Junior in the 73rd minute and under two minutes later he found the back of the next to help his side move to top in the Laliga table after Athletic Bilbao were held by Leganes.

The former Santos man controlled a Casemiro long pass with the outer of his right foot before finding the back of the net with a low curler. His goal drew comparisons with former Real Madrid and Barcelona forward Ronaldo who was known for his close control and finish.

The 18-year old was however quick to dismiss the comparisons terming Ronaldo one of the all-time best. He further stated that he wants to make a name for himself at the Spanish Capital.

“I don’t want any comparisons with Ronaldo being made because he’s one of the game’s all-time best and one of my country’s best. As for the goal—I controlled it well and knew that from there on in things would work out. I have to always show that I’m capable of playing here, “he said.

The youngster went on to praise coach Zinedine Zidane for the support that he has accorded revealing that the tactician is always in touch with him when he is part of the first team or in the team B, the Castilla.

“The gaffer knows what he’s doing, and he’s been talking to me every day to tell me to keep working hard. I’m at Real Madrid and I don’t care whether I play for Castilla, under Raul, or for the first team. Madrid are always going to have great players, so all of this prestige is to be expected. I’m so happy. Zidane transmits a real calmness and a lot of trust, and I think that’s why things went so well,” he added.
