ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale has come to the defence of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth for appointing his brother Imran Okoth as the Constituency’s CDF manager.

Etale was responding to critics who singled out the late Okoth for nepotism.

He said: “I have seen some people posting on social media that the late Hon. Ken Okoth appointed his brother Imran to be in charge of NG-CDF. Yes, it is a fact. No one is denying this”.

He asked the critics to produce any report by the Auditor General to show misuse of the CDF funds under Imran’s management.

“I want to ask those campaigning on the basis of that account to quote any report by the Auditor General that states financial misappropriation by Kibra NG-CDF. Post it here” he said.

Etale also attributed the success of Ken’s project to “Imran’s determination to have his brother achieve his election pledges to the people of Kibra”

“When everyone here was praising Kibra Constituency as a centre of excellence in terms of development and use of CDF money, knowing that Imran was part of the CDF management in Kibra, did you ever raise the queries?” he said.

He said that Imran made sure that the CDF funds were used rightly for the intended projects.

Meanwhile, Kenyans on Tuesday lauded the late Okoth on Twitter for improving educational standards in Kibra Constituency.

Among the notable school projects that he funded using CDF is Mbagathi High School at a cost of Ksh48 million.
