A 15-year old footballer, Tedius Kinyanjui is among the eight children that perished after a building collapsed at Precious Talents Primary School at, Ng’ando area in Dagoretti South on Monday, September 23.
The 7 am incident saw eight young lives cut short and many others left injured. Of the deceased, seven were girls while the only boy who passed on happens to a young budding footballer attached to Ngando Youth Sports Association. He was set to sit for his final primary school examination later this year.
The school has since been closed down as investigations as to what may have caused the collapse to begin although initial reports indicate that the materials used to construct the building were of poor quality.
NYSA as it’s famously known scouts young talented needy players within the community and secures scholarships for them within the and outside the area. Among the beneficiaries of the project is Wazito FC’s John ‘Katua’ Mutua and Sony Sugar’s Kevin Onsongo.
Ngando Youth Sports Association has now taken to social media to reveal that it lost one of its young players.
“Sad day indeed for Nysa FC and Ngando community yesterday as the dust settled down 8 lives lost 7 girls 1 boy (teddy) Tedius Kinyanjui Nysa FC academy player, Teddy was a talent cut short…Nysa FC wishes the families well and quick recovery R.I.P to our 7 queens. And finally, rest in peace (Teddy). We will play our weekend match donning black bands. Long live Nysa. Long live Ngando,” the club posted.
